2020 Street Construction

During the construction season this year, 12 city streets will be reconstructed or restored. The work is funded by the Local Option Sales Tax. Reconstruction involves a total removal and replacement of the roadway, and underground utilities are replaced if needed. Often it requires closing sections of the road for two to three months. Restoration is typically an asphalt overlay, but could include fixing the curb or other smaller issues. Road closures for restoration are typically shorter or only partial closures.

The street with the most impact to traffic will be W. 12th Street from College St. to Tremont St. This project also includes Walnut St. from 11th St. to 12th St. This project will be split into two stages. Stage 1 begins on W. 12th St. from College St. to Tremont St. with a full closure during this time. Upon completion, Stage 2 will be completed requiring full closure of Walnut St. from 11th St. to 12th St. It is anticipated that Phase I will take up to fourteen (14) weeks and Phase II will take up to ten (10) weeks.
